Mt. Washington Valley’s photo contest themed “There’s No Place Like  HOME” accepts DIGITAL photo entries each year up until October 1^st.  This annual photo contest has been steadily growing in its popularity since inception in 2008.  Photographers living locally as well as visitors who enjoy sharing their photographic expressions of the area and/or what interests them most are invited to take part of this annual contest.  Thus far, there have been about 500 photo submissions each year representing over 75 photographers annually.  This contest  has become a wonderful opportunity for photo enthusiasts to share their best photos and to see and appreciate others’ work and creativity as well.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for October 1^st. There are (3) three divisions of judging which will include CASH prizes for 1st and 2nd place winners in each of the categories; Student, Amateur and Pro/Semi-Pro.  Thanks to our many generous sponsors, there is still NO cost to contestants and one person can submit up to 10 photos, if they provide a CD or flash-drive with their high resolution photos.   Emailed photos must also be high resolution, but contestants are limited to 5 submissions due to time constraints in the downloading process.  (note: this is a new requirement in 2011)

“Selecting the winners is always a very difficult decision with so many wonderful and creative photographic expressions of “There’s No Place Like HOME”.  In an effort to encourage and show off more entry’s talent, contest judges also recognize up to 26 honorable mentions annually as well”, says contest host Bernadette Friberg of Badger Realty.  “This way we have plenty of photos to choose from for  fitting into our community service project “Calendars for Charity”. Each year, 6 contest winners as well as 6 of the honorable mentions will receive the added honor of having their selected photograph printed as one month in a special edition Charity calendar. “Calendars for Charities” is a community service project that has become the culmination of the MWV photo contest and is another great reason why some photographers have taken a strong interest in sharing their photos.” says Bernie.  Established in 2008 this MWV photo contest was in part created to help raise funds for selected local charities.  See our charities page for more details on who benefits by our calendar sales and how you can help, or be considered for this opportunity.
